NEW COMMISSION FOR LARGE SCALE SYMPHONY

"What a lovely Christmas gift to receive such a commission Polo Piatti. And how great it is to be recognised for your love of melodic music and its traditions in a world that seems often to determine anything new as only valid if “radical”. Right now, what you are doing is pretty radical in its way".

GUITAR CONCERTO PREMIERED TO GREAT SUCCESS

3rd December 2023 - De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill-on-Sea, UK

The world premiere of the Christmas Concerto for Guitar & Orchestra is set to take place on 3rd December 2023 at the De La Warr Pavilion in the United Kingdom. The soloist will be Italian star guitarist Giulio Tampalini together with the Hastings Sinfonia, conducted by Derek Carden. The work celebrates all things Christmas, from the festive to the introspective, from the joyful to the frenetic and from the ceremonial to the celebratory. The unique concerto has been recorded in 2021 by its dedicatee, international guitarist Sergio Puccini and who commissioned the work, together with the Budapest Scoring Symphonic Orchestra under the baton of maestro Péter Ellenyi and this will be the first time the concerto will performed live anywhere on the world.

Bohemian Piano Concerto becomes an international success

Last November the recording of one of Piatti's major works was launched in the United Kingdom. His 'Bohemian Concerto for Piano and Orchestra' was recorded by American virtuoso pianist Thomas Pandolfi and the National Symphony Orchestra under conductor John Andrews and released on the Seafront Records label.

“This is a great virtuoso piece, but it’s also got a real heart and it’s got real soul,... a real tenderness at the core of it that I think pianists and lovers of music are going to find very, very infectious... It’s a great, big, soulful, rich romantic piano concerto.“ John Andrews

“It’s fabulously melodic, ... it takes virtuosity probably where Franz Liszt left off and if we go a little bit into the early 20th century’s fabulous piano composers such as Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev, taking those guys and pushing the limits of technique to a higher level.“ Thomas Pandolfi
